Audacity For El Capitan

Oct 26, 2015 I have been through this in detail but still cannot get Audacity to work in El Capitan 10.11.6. (It all worked before the parade to El Capitan) I have now loaded onto my MacBook Air which is only Sierra. Running El Capitan on a Mid-2009 MacBook with 2,13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

Locate the downloaded file audacity-macosx-ub-2.1.0.dmg and double-click to mount the disk image or .dmg file. The downloaded file should mostly be in your Downloads folder.

A window appears, prompting you to drag the Audacity folder to your Applications folder. Click the folder in this window and drag it to the Applications folder shown next to it.

Audacity is ready for audio editing. Audacity is now stored in your Applications folder. You can create a link to it in your Dock by clicking and dragging the icon.

Install the macOS installer

Begin installation

After installation of the installer is complete, open the Applications folder on your Mac, then double-click the file named Install OS X El Capitan.
